Learn How to Improve the Brightness, Color, and Overall Quality of Your Images in Adobe Photoshop CC

1.Setting Brightness and contrast

Adjust the exposure through an image compression program

• From the menu bar, select Image > Settings > brightness/contrast.
• Adjust the brightness slider to change the overall brightness, and the contrast slider to increase or decrease the contrast of the image.
• Click OK. The settings appear only on the selected layer.

2.Adjusting the color vibrancy

Adjust the color vibrancy.

• From the menu bar, select Image > Settings > Vibrance.
• Perform some tests by setting the cursors. The vibrate slider has an effect on the intensity of the colors. It is on the dull colors that it is most marked. The Saturation slider is used to adjust the intensity of all the colors in the image.
• Once you’re done, click OK.

3.Adjusting hue and saturation

Adjust the hue and color saturation.

• From the menu bar, select Image > Settings > hue/Saturation.
• Perform some tests by setting the hue, Saturation, and brightness sliders. Your settings apply to all the colors in the picture. The Tint slider is used to change the colors of an image, while the Saturation slider determines the intensity of the colors, and the slider brightness their brightness.
• To change a color using these sliders, open the drop-down menu at the top right of the Hue/Saturation dialog box, and choose a color range such as yellows. Then adjust the hue, Saturation, or brightness sliders. Your settings only relate to the selected color range in the entire image.
• Once you’re done, click OK.

4.Adjustment layers

Handle adjustment layers.

The adjustment layers give you more flexibility to perform touch-up. They allow you to change your settings to infinity and preserve the original image of any direct change. Test the black and white adjustment layer to get an idea of how this type of layer works.

• In the Layers panel, select an image layer to edit using this setting.
• At the bottom of the Layers panel, click the Create Fill or adjust layer icon, and then select the Black and White option from the shortcut menu. A new adjustment layer appears in the layers panel, just above the selected image layer. This adjustment layer has an effect on the lower layers only.

The Properties panel opens automatically and gives access to the controls that match this adjustment layer. These controls vary from one adjustment layer to another.

• Verify that the black and white adjustment layer is selected in the Layers panel, and then customize the conversion of your image to black and white using the controls in the Properties panel.
• Perform some tests by setting the cursors. Once you’re done, click the double arrow at the top right of the properties panel to close it.
